THE ENTREPRENEUR DIARIES 011

NO ENTREPRENEUR IS AN ISLAND

A phrase that stuck out to me this past week as I scoured my studies. Time and time again, I am amazed at how the people we meet propel us, push us, and perhaps even help us find our passions with a little more vigor. Have you ever had a conversation with someone you’ve admired, only to be left feeling like you were able to step into your self a little bit more?

I know I have. I feel grateful for the creatives and the entrepreneurs who push past the limiting beliefs of others (as well as themselves) only to raise the bar a little bit higher, and to stand a little bit taller. As I look through the lens of my life, I am left with profound gratitude for the people, friends, acquaintances, mentors, family, and every person that I have come to know. We are merely the sum of all the people we have known and the places we have been. Our experiences should be rooted in thankfulness as it adds ever increasing layers to just who we are.

YOU DON’T NEED TO SETTLE.

Through interactions, we often gain opportunity — and let it be known we are no longer in an age of business where we stay with one company for the rest of our lives. We have the freedom to move around, to explore different ventures, and try different things. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Do the thing you fear to do! And when someone you know places an opportunity at your feet, if it will increase your learning for something you’re passionate about, take it, and be grateful for it. Eventually, you will come to see that through connecting the dots backward as Steve Jobs liked to say, everything will add up in the end.
