CONNECT THE DOTS

Think about where you currently are, and now dig as deep as you possibly can into your past. What things set the foundation for where you are now? What lessons aided in solidifying or removing certain habits? What opportunities were you hungry for then, and what opportunities are you hungry for now? What thrilled you then and what thrills you now? How do they intertwine? Who did you learn most from when you began, and who are you learning from now? I believe that in order to move forward, we have to be willing to look backward.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.” — Steve Jobs

GET HUNGRY

Looking back on my path of entrepreneurship and my life, I can see that this idea that our hunger, our drive, and our acceptance of opportunities and the willingness of humble growth are the all encompassing fuel that pushes us into the territory of our potential. So how do we use hunger, smarts, and learning to elevate us to our higher potential? I love what Tony Robbins as said about hunger, ““The best entrepreneurs on earth never lose that hunger…They are hungry to grow, hungry to give, hungry to contribute. It’s more important than intelligence. There’s nothing that will stop a person who is hungry enough.”  So what is it that you are you hungry for? What is your drive, your cause for momentum? What pushes you do find the possibilities even in the impossible?

LEARN HOW TO LEARN & PURSUE YOUR GIFT

When we match unquenchable hunger with world class smarts, we set ourselves in the position to accept life changing opportunities, actively pursue our gifts at an elevated level which then opens the door to create a tailored calling and experience. But first how do we learn? Jeff Sandefer, the founder of Acton School of Business and Acton Academy believes that learning how to learn means that we learn how to listen, we learn to ask questions, we learn to make our point, and that we unlearn this idea that we have to be the smartest person in the room. Having world class smarts means that you’re smart with your time, your gifts, your words, and your actions.

Jeff also posed that in order to our gifts we should do the following exercise:

ASK 5 PEOPLE WHO KNOW YOU WELL TO ANSWER THE NEXT QUESTION IN GREAT DETAIL AND SPECIFICS WITH REAL LIFE EXAMPLES AND SITUATIONS:

What do I do better than anyone else in the world?

I hope that through the myrid of becoming an entrepreneur, wherever you are on this path, that you will see things a bit more clearly moving forward, as well as looking backward. That you’ll be inspired to get hungry, to find your gift, to hone your gift, and that you will have the courage to chase after the opportunities that will make you a better person, love with more heart, and give you the faith to do something truly meaningful with you life.
